Dick Advocaat will remain as head coach of Curaçao for another year. The Curaçao Football Federation announced the one-year contract extension on Wednesday.
The 78-year-old Advocaat is the oldest manager ever to lead a team at a World Cup. He stated his desire to continue the project. "We have together set something special and I look forward to continuing to build with the players and staff on what we have achieved," Advocaat said.
The federation cited continuity and stability as the primary reasons for extending his deal. Under his guidance, Curaçao qualified for their first World Cup in 2022. They were eliminated in the group stage following defeats to Germany (1-7) and Ivory Coast (0-2) and a draw with Ecuador (0-0).
Curaçao currently sit fourth in their World Cup qualifying group with one point from three matches. The team's next fixture is away to Costa Rica on September 25. Their last five results show one win, one draw, and three defeats. The full squad and upcoming fixtures are available on this site.
