Dick Advocaat has called up Kyano Penso to the Curaçao national team. The manager has selected the 18-year-old Jong PSV defender for the first time as a replacement for the injured Roshon van Eijma.
Penso can now make his debut for the national team. The young player is eligible for the upcoming CONCACAF Nations League matches. Curaçao plays Costa Rica in the early hours of Friday. Further fixtures against Nicaragua and twice against Trinidad and Tobago are scheduled.
The PSV player recently impressed by scoring his first professional goal. He found the net in fine fashion for Jong PSV in a 3-1 win over Helmond Sport. Penso previously played for Dutch youth representative teams and has also featured in youth internationals for Curaçao for several years.
Advocaat had already announced the squad for the Nations League matches. Penso's call-up follows Van Eijma's withdrawal. Curaçao currently sits fourth in their World Cup qualifying group with one point from three games. The team lost its last friendly 2-0 to Ivory Coast.
