Curaçao national football team has completed the preparation for the 2026 World Cup with a convincing win. The team of coach Dick Advocaat defeated Aruba on Saturday night in a sold-out stadium in Willemstad with 4-0. Although the final score suggests otherwise, Curaçao had a hard time expressing their dominance in goals before the break. The World Cup debutant created several chances, but failed to break through against the defensively set Aruba. After the break, the liberating opening goal finally came. Joshua Brenet put Curaçao ahead in the 53rd minute and with that, the resistance of Aruba seemed to be broken. A quarter of an hour later, Jeremy Antonisse doubled the margin, and Curaçao took further distance. Livano Comenencia scored seven minutes before time for the 3-0, and in injury time, Juninho Bacuna capped off the evening with a beautiful goal. The midfielder determined the final score of 4-0 and gave the supporters a festive ending to the World Cup preparation. The convincing win is a welcome boost for Curaçao, which lost 4-1 to Scotland a week earlier. Despite that defeat, Advocaat spoke of a fit squad and against Aruba, that confidence was given extra food. After the match, the players were honored on a podium by the enthusiastic supporters in the sold-out stadium. On June 14, the global adventure begins with a tough group match against Germany. Curaçao will also face Ecuador and Ivory Coast in the group stage.
