Curaçao national football team chooses familiar names in World Cup squad. Coach Dick Advocaat sticks to familiar faces in World Cup squad. The Curaçao national football team's World Cup squad has been announced. The most well-known names are those of PSV's Armando Obispo, brothers Leandro and Juninho Bacuna, Sontje Hansen, Jürgen Locadia, Riechedly Bazoer and Joshua Brenet. The last two played six and two times for the Dutch national team, respectively. Locadia was also called up for the Dutch national team once, but did not make his international debut. With winger Tahith Chong (Sheffield United) in the squad, there is one player born on the island of Curaçao. Eight of the 26 selected players played in the Eredivisie last season, and four in the first division. Curaçao will go to the World Cup after a turbulent period, not with Fred Rutten but with Advocaat. The latter wanted to make no more comments on the matter during the announcement of his selection. "There have been enough words and writings in the past few days, now we have to play football. I have no desire to look back, we must all move forward. I leave the talk sessions to the media", said Advocaat, who said he had little contact with players in the past period. "Next Monday we will gather in Noordwijk and the focus will be entirely on football." Curaçao will play in a group with Germany, Ecuador and the Ivory Coast at the World Cup.
