Curaçao ambassador in Spain: Emilio Fernández
Curaçao has a new ambassador in Spain: Emilio Fernández. He promotes our island and national team on social media. Fernández, also known as Milu, managed to enthuse thousands of Spanish and international followers with his stories about our island and national team.
How did it come to this?
Fernández became fascinated with the story of how Curaçao, as the smallest country ever, will participate in the 2026 World Cup. He jokingly promoted himself as the ‘popular ambassador of Curaçao in Spain’ on social media. Thanks to the investment organization Cinex, the Spaniard was now invited to the island to share his experiences and passion for football with the ministers. But of course, also to promote the island on his platform.
What does this mean for Curaçao?
Fernández' ambassadorship means that Curaçao now has a strong representative in Spain. He can promote our island and national team to a higher level and attract more attention from the Spanish media and the public.
What comes next?
Fernández will now continue his work as ambassador and promote Curaçao. He will also work together with the investment organization Cinex to attract more investments in our island. Curaçao is currently 4th in the World Cup rankings with 1 point, 0 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses from 3 games. Our last result was a 0-2 loss against Ivory Coast (2026-06-25). Our recent form is 1 win, 2 draws and 2 losses (LDDLW).
